About Scientists & Co

A social enterprise that aims to raise the aspirations of sixth-form students who are first generation learners and/or are from less advantaged socio-economic backgrounds by providing support in accessing higher education through educational programmes and skill development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Developing the organisation’s vision and strategy, securing grants and funding.
  • Building capacity and guiding the core team and 70+ volunteers.
  • Monitoring daily, weekly and monthly progress of set targets.
  • Engaging with external stakeholders including schools and third sector organisations to secure funding & strategic partnerships.
  • Representing the organisation at educational policy seminars and other public events.

    • Key Achievements
  • Secured King’s College London’s Widening Participation Grants for two consecutive years and partnerships with universities and third sector organisations including MindTorch, Generating Genius and United Church Schools Trust.
  • Conceptualised and developed the high-output, cost effective Shadow A Scientist programmes.
  • Placed more than 100 pupils who are mostly first generation learners from underrepresented backgrounds through Shadow A Scientist; 9/10 pupils offered place at university, 63% of whom secured a place at a Russell Group university.
  • Reached over 300 pupils across 35 schools in UK and India through Science Without Borders programme.
